Our Work

Modern Intranet

Our Discovery

A mechanical company had an intranet in place that was being underutilized due to limited platform capabilities. The intranet was built on a legacy technology that didn’t fit the needs of the end users.

After performing a number of stakeholder interviews, we were able to understand the key pain points. We were able to identify that the platform was rarely being used because of the overall experience, performance and quality of content.

Key Challenges

  • Employees were not able to find information on the previous intranet costing the company in lost productivity
  • Content administration was difficult and time consuming
  • The previous intranet had poor employee adoption and usage
  • Did not have any metrics on how the current intranet was being utilized by the employees
  • Missing a mobile experience

Our Results

Adoption was extremely high resulting in between 75% - 85% of users consuming key content

Amount of time spent searching for and rebuilding content dramatically reduced

Mobile experience enabled employees to access corporate data anywhere, from any device

Our Solution

We first designed the intranet starting with key stakeholders across the organization to understand users conscious and unconscious needs. By pairing this information with the leadership team, we were able to create a balanced intranet that truly served the end users. We used the modern capabilities of SharePoint Online to achieve the following objectives:

  • Create information hub: We created a central location for the most common documents that employees could reference and easily find items they were searching for instead of wasting time creating their own
  • Improve employee communication and Engagement: With a fully functioning intranet that met the needs of all users, there was an immediate increase in users
  • Increase quality of life:Employees now had access to documents across remote jobsites cutting out the need to VPN in or return to the office to access files. The intranet also support WCAG 2.0 Accessibility guidelines for users with various accessibility needs.
